Edwardian Hotel’s The Londoner, one of the capital’s most hotly anticipated new hotels finally opens its doors this month.
Located on Leicester Square, the 350-room new-build property originally due to open in 2020, will feature a variety of meeting spaces, giving planners a brand new option in the heart the capital that can host a range of conferences, events and functions.
Event spaces
The Ballroom is the biggest space – a pillar-less room, featuring pre-function areas and two kitchens serving restaurant style dining, while The Green Room is a secluded space dressed in marble and velvet that can host up to 850 people.
Home to The Londoner’s private art collection, The Gallery is a unique multi-functional foyer and exhibition space with seven adjoining private rooms, designed in partnership with the capital’s most iconic art institutions.
Two private screening rooms can be hired for bespoke cinematic experiences and a creative set for presentations and meetings.
Food & drink
The hotel offers six F&B options, created by Amir Jati, Creative Director at Edwardian Hotels London, and The Londoner’s Executive Chefs Matt Downes, Shailesh Deshmukh and Neil Armstrong.
These include signature restaurant Whitcomb’s, focused on contemporary French cooking, with influences from surrounding Mediterranean cuisines, and 8 at The Londoner, a rooftop terrace combining modern Japanese cuisine, innovative mixology, and dramatic design, with both in and outdoor dining.
The Stage is the place to head for Champagne breakfasts and afternoon tea, and will also feature a curated entertainment line-up, while Joshua’s Tavern is a neighbourhood-style bar featuring over 50 regionally sourced gins on the menu.
Refuel will focus on healthy and nutritious food and drink, while The Residence, will feature a collection of discrete areas exclusively for hotel residents.
The Residence’s Y Bar and The Drawing Room will offer an à la carte menu and a curated reserve wine list, complemented by signature house cocktails. Guests will also be able to experience The Whisky Room, where a secret passage will reveal an intimate 14-cover parlour, for guests to explore the world of Whisky.
Spa time
Beneath the historic Leicester Square, The Retreat features a tranquil pool surrounded by private cabanas with experienced therapists leading personalised treatments, providing guests with a haven to escape the hustle and bustle of the city above.
There’s also a state-of-the-art gym and barbershop and nail salon.
