Venue of the Week: The Fish Hotel

Venue of the Week: The Fish Hotel

Venue of the Week: The Fish Hotel 1024 683 micebook.

Set just a stones throw away from the quintessentially British village of Broadway in the Cotswolds, The Fish Hotel isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a retreat, an experience, and last week, the perfect host venue for micebook LUXE. Tucked into 500 acres of woodland on the Farncombe Estate, The Fish manages to feel both secluded and expansive, with sweeping views over the hills and that comforting sense of being away from it all, without ever feeling cut off.

The selection of rooms are the real highlight of this venue, with every one having a distinct and unique feature. Guests can opt to stay in stylish bedrooms in what was once a stable block, or cosy shepherds huts hidden away in the hills – complete with log burners for chillier days. The whimsical treehouses, complete with rope bridges and outdoor tubs, are another popular option for those looking for something a bit different.  There’s clearly a playfulness about this venue that sets it apart from the rest, and indeed my wander through the grounds to see the different spaces only reinforced how much variety and personality the property offers.

Dining is another area where The Fish excels. Hook by Martin Burge delivers beautifully presented dishes with a strong emphasis on seasonal produce and seafood, but what really stands out is the relaxed atmosphere, serving up fine dining without any fuss. The bar and lounge areas are very natural gathering points, and the feasting options are perfectly suited to groups who want to share good food in a more informal way.

Sustainability is also a huge focus across the entire Farncombe collection. The hotel was recently awarded B Corp certification, underlining its commitment to operating responsibly and transparently. Initiatives range from planting trees to offset paper usage on the estate, to ensuring all IT equipment is recycled and sent overseas to support underprivileged communities. Food waste is repurposed as animal feed, and suppliers are carefully chosen within a 75-mile radius to reduce environmental impact and support local producers.

As an event venue, The Fish worked remarkably well. With the option to take a full buyout, the estate really becomes your own private playground, giving groups the freedom to spread across bedrooms, lounges, terraces and outdoor spaces, creating a private, immersive environment that feels a world away from everyday life. The lounge is an ideal location for content sessions, offering a relaxed yet professional atmosphere that felt perfectly in tune with the surroundings. Beyond that, the grounds opened up for networking and some truly unforgettable activities, such as clay shooting, archery, or most notably, a lively session of duck herding that had everyone talking! The location itself also adds to the countryside appeal, with a beautiful 30-minute walk down to the village of Broadway offering the perfect chance to stretch your legs and soak up the Cotswolds views between sessions. Everything about this venue is infused with a sense of authenticity, a reminder that meaningful luxury doesn’t have to mean over the top opulence, it can be rooted in the overall experience – the atmosphere it creates and the memories it leaves behind.
