The Happening… WOW Festival

The Happening… WOW Festival

The Happening… WOW Festival 750 444 micebook.

Also opening this Friday, but somewhat closer to home is the WOW: Women of the World Festival. The Southbank Centre will host a two-day event kicking off to coincide with International Women’s Day.

Curated with the WOW Foundation, an independent organisation working to build, convene and sustain a global movement that believes a gender equal world is possible and desirable, the festival is set to be this weekend’s hottest ticket in town.

From a live conversation with ‘The Shock Doctrine’ author Naomi Klein through to a talk by Annie Lennox and a discussion led by ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Maisie Williams looking at the current state of feminism, the festival is jam-packed with thought-provoking content. Speakers include Munroe Bergdorf, Lily Allen and Sandi Toksvig.

And while Southbank beckons, don’t forget to check out newish kid on the block, Spiritland Royal Festival Hall. The all day eating and drinking haunt spins the best tracks for elegant mooching in oversized leather booths and is open until 2am for those wanting to download after an inspiring day at the festival.

Alternatively, head to the luxury Sea Containers London hotel to sip on innovative cocktails in the award-winning Dandelyan bar, or take in panoramic views of the London skyline from rooftop bar, 12th Knot, which features an outdoor terrace with spectacular views over the River Thames. Set within the Sea Containers building – originally designed by acclaimed American architect Warren Platner – the hotel boasts 359 guest rooms and suites.
