With travel restrictions set to continue into 2021, it is likely that live business events and incentives will stay close to home when they do come back. So we round up a selection of the new hotels set to open across the UK next year…

London

Starting in the capital, several major properties that were planned for 2020 have pushed back their openings until 2021, including Edwardian Hotel’s The Londoner.

Located on Leicester Square, the 350-roomed property dubbed the capital’s first “iceberg hotel” — with more space underground than above – will feature a rooftop bar serving cocktails and Japanese dishes, and a 1,000-capacity pillarless ballroom, as well as a signature Mediterranean restaurant, lobby bar and ground-floor “Gastro Tavern”.

Pan Pacific London, which was due to open this autumn, has moved its opening date back to early 2021. The brand’s first European outpost, located in the city just across from Liverpool Street Station, will feature 237 rooms and a ballroom accommodating up to 400 guests.

Just up the road in Shoreditch, the Mondrian brand will make its return to London in the Spring. Accor and sbe recently announced an agreement to turn trendy five-star The Curtain, into a Mondrian property in collaboration with current owner Reuben Brothers.

The property will be converted to the Mondrian Shoreditch London after an update and restyling of the hotel, which will see sbe will establish several of its signature food and beverage brands at Mondrian Shoreditch London, including a culinary experience by world-famous chef Dani García.

Finally in the Capital, Beaverbrook is partnering with Cadogan Estates to bring the luxury of the award-winning Surrey country house to Chelsea for 2021. Launching next summer on Sloane Street following a £25m restoration of two Georgian townhouses opposite Cadogan Place Gardens, Beaverbrook Townhouse will be home to 14 luxury suites, plus a contemporary Japanese restaurant and bar.

Rest of the UK

Set to open in early 2021 adjacent to Windsor Great Park and Savill Gardens, Fairmont Windsor Park will offer more than 200 bedrooms. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, the hotel will also offer 13 elegantly designed meeting rooms including a ballroom for up to 700 guests plus a luxurious spa with 18 treatment rooms.

Over in East Sussex, The Star, Alfriston will offer 30 rooms set in a striking grade II Listed 15th century building in the heart of an East Sussex medieval village when it opens next March. The property, formerly owned by Lord Charles Forte who founded Trust House Forte, was brought by the Polizzi family in 2019 and is being refurbished.

The Harper in Norfolk (right and main image), which delayed its planned 2020 opening, is finally set to open its doors in Spring 2021. Housed in a former glass blowing factory, the 32-room boutique property will showcase bespoke glass features and natural materials throughout.

Up in Edinburgh, the iconic Gleneagles brand is launching a sister property in Edinburgh. The 33-room Gleneagles Townhouse will feature a rooftop terrace with views across the city and a members’ club with access to private spaces and on-site gym and wellness clubs.
