A permanently popular incentive destination, Cape Town is brimming with unique and stylish boutique hotels ideal for smaller, exclusive groups visiting the city…
The Silo Hotel
The award-winning and arty Silo is built in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex occupying six floors above Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa) on Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. The boutique property has 28 rooms, including a one-bedroom penthouse, each of which has been individually designed and decorated by Liz Biden, with colourful and eclectic pieces juxtaposing the modern, industrial architecture. Guests can relax in the The Willaston Bar, enjoy a more formal dining experience at The Granary Café or head to The Silo Rooftop, an ideal spot for a sunset cocktail or a casual lunch. Meanwhile, The Silo Spa offers a tranquil space in which guests can relax and indulge in the latest therapies.
The Twelve Apostles
Dramatically located above the Atlantic Ocean, flanked by the majestic Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain, this luxury property offers 70 rooms and suites with stunning panoramic ocean and mountain views. Awarded the Luxury Sea View Hotel & Spa of The Year by the Luxury Travel Awards 2018, this property is an incentive travel favourite, and for good reason. Guests can savour seafood and fine dining at Azure Restaurant, enjoy delicious cocktails, breath-taking sunsets and whale watching at The Leopard Bar Terrace and luxuriate in the holistic spa. A complimentary shuttle service to the city centre and V&A Waterfront ensures that beaches and tourist attractions are within easy reach, while helicopter transfers can also be arranged for groups looking to create that “wow” moment.
Grand Daddy
This quirky property on Cape Town’s famous Long Street claims to have been operating as a boutique hotel for over 120 years. It offers 24 luxury and superior rooms, two lush suites called the Grand Daddy and Sugar Daddy, and 7 original Airstream Trailers on the rooftop – all have their own individual decor theme and collectively reflect a typically “South African road trip”. Celebrating the silver screen in an outdoor cinema right beneath the African sky, the Pink Flamingo Rooftop Cinema is set the rooftop trailers and has regular film showings. It’s also available for private functions, so groups can host dinners or receptions or arrange their own private screenings. The hotel’s eatery called Thirty Ate serves up classic city favourites from prawns to burgers and gourmet sandwiches.
Victoria & Alfred Hotel
This popular property, set in the heart of Cape Town’s Waterfront area, is among the city’s larger luxury boutiques. Its 94 contemporary rooms offer views of the Alfred Basin, Table Mountain or the piazza. Built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse, the hotel is named after Queen Victoria and her son, Prince Alfred who played an intrinsic role in the establishment of the Breakwater Basin, now the V&A Waterfront. Dining options include fine dining restaurant Dash, or the more relaxed Ginja, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner against the backdrop of Table Mountain. There’s also a swimming pool and spa for guests to relax and enjoy some downtime after exploring the vibrant city.
